The Journey to Eat

This post will show multiple students from NIO. It was Hari Raya Haji on Wednesday. Hence, it was a public holiday. What better way to spend it then to look for makan and more makan, right? So we thought to try out food around Imbi, Bukit Bintang and Jalan Alor.

We met up at the LRT station slightly pass 11am. Destination was to KLCC and then onwards to a shop known as Win Heng Seng located at Jalan Imbi. Since we didn't know the exact directions, the supposedly ever trusted Garmin was used. Walk walk walk, past Pavillion, past Farenheit 88 and ended up in some small small alley. Tired with Garmin, decided to try Nokia Maps. Ish, I think I need to go for lessons on how to use these technologies!! Haha So we ended up at one end of Jalan Imbi. Decided to ask some uncle. Teeth all stained and all...I just asked. And he went, "I no speaking English." So then Ru Shan stepped in and asked in Mandarin. He went, " Arr....should speak mandarin mahhhh." Cheh, uncle!

So yea, moral of the story: We used the long long road...There was actually a shortcut. Which is exiting from Pavillion, walk down the small road between Starhill and Farenheit 88 and you'll get there. Yes, back to Win Heng Seng. So why this place? Well, I read somewhere about good chu yok fun or pork noodles and decided to give it a try.

There are two kinds, one is the dry and the other the soupy kind. The dry one is where the hor fun or noodles or bihun is done kolok style with mince pork and dark sauce with the soup served as an accompaniment whereas the soupy one is carbo of your liking served directly in the soup. The similarity? They all come with 3 oddly shaped pork balls. You have a choice of whether you'd like to add liver sausage into the dish.

What's liver sausage? It's kinda like lap cheong, or Chinese sausage except the ingredients not only consists of fatty pork but also liver. I like it. Hehe the pork balls are so-so but it didn't have that chewy texture that most meatballs have. It felt like it was a mixture of pork and fish rather than pure pork balls.

Just cause I'm me...At every angle XD

So after walking the long route, I was tired by the end of lunch. Weather being so hot, we decided to check out Uniqlo at Farenheit 88. After the opening where the t-shirts which were sold at RM29.90 sold out almost immediately, there's still a huge amount of people who were crazily buying in there. Most of it were warm clothing and honestly, where are you gonna wear it to? Malaysia definitely ain't the right place. Everywhere there was wool and fur and stuff like that. Another thing, their clothing use a technology known as HeatTech. It's supposed to retain heat when you wear the clothes. Aiks, for me, the more ventilation, the better.

So ended up in Pavillion, queuing up for bowls of icy goodness at Snowflake which is located in front of Padini Concept Store. From left, Chak, Ru Shan, Prakash and Chris.

From left, me, Diana, Ju lyn and multiple extra hands...

We shared seats as well as ice. We ordered Sea Amber Jelly.

And the cold Snowflake bestseller...=) I love the taro and sweet potato balls....

Continued walking and finally it was dinner time. We walked down to Jalan Alor for food. This is one of the restaurant further at the end. Among the dishes ordered were fried rice with lap cheong, Hokkien mee, kangkung belacan, fried tang hoon, satay, fried squid with curry powder as well as barbecued chicken. I think by then everyone was pretty tired.

It was a long day with lots of shopping. We ended back at KLCC just in time for the 8pm discount of sushi at Isetan. A day filled with food and 'exercise'. Haha good right? Then we won't feel so guilty for eating so much...Hehe
